Participation in external events Higher bureaucratic costs for smaller companies

Around three per cent of the turnover of a small company (125 employees) in the mechanical and plant engineering sector is tied up in the fulfilment of direct bureaucratic duties. In a large company (3,500 employees), the tied-up costs are a good one per cent. The reason for this: In smaller companies, the fixed costs for the bureaucratic effort are distributed over smaller production quantities.

Dr Annette Icks said at the BDI working committee "Bureaucracy" at the end of February that politics should focus even more on reducing bureaucracy in SMEs in the future.
