News & Updates, Working Papers | 2021 Entrepreneurs during Covid 19

Were women-owned businesses in 2020 more affected by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, compared to men-owned businesses? Dr Rosemarie Kay and Prof. Dr Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen) address this question in their article "Female and male entrepreneurs in Germany: How did the coronavirus pandemic affect their businesses?" for the Working Paper series of the IfM Bonn.

They come to the conclusion that women entrepreneurs were not systematically more severely affected, if the turnover development is used as an assessment criterion. Nevertheless, they may have suffered a loss of income more often, because they may have benefited less from Coronavirus support measures.

Shortly, the article will also be published in the German scientific journal "Sozialer Fortschritt".
