Participation in external events Bureaucracy reduction needs a new legal culture

How can bureaucracy be noticeably reduced for companies? Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen) discussed this question at the 6th Regulatory Policy Colloquium of the Impulsstiftung in Eltville at the end of October.

She showed in her presentation that reducing bureaucracy is a highly complex task that cannot be solved quickly but must be done continuously. Following the example of Great Britain, a new legal culture should be initiated: Away from an instrument of the authoritarian state towards a risk-adjusted and more trust-based approach: „In future, regulations should be seen more as important framework conditions in the international competition for business locations and innovation," summarised the IfM President.
