Participation in external events Innovativeness of SMEs in view of the Green Deal

How does the challenge of sustainable management affect the innovative capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises? Dr. Annette Icks research shows that suppliers in particular are currently under pressure to develop more ecological products and processes in order to satisfy the changing demands of lead companies. "The majority of small and medium-sized enterprises, on the other hand, only act when external circumstances demand it. Just to give two examples: The Corona pandemic has boosted digitalisation in SMEs. Demographic change is having an impact on their measures to recruit and secure skilled workers," she reported at the online workshop "Innovation Problems of SMEs in the Wake of the European Green Deal", to which the VDI Technolo-giezentrum invited at the beginning of April. Hans-Jürgen Wolter believes that not necessarily more innovation funding is needed, but better communication of the existing funding programmes as well as better accessibility.
