"Research and teaching on Mittelstand enterprises at the University of Siegen was primarily regionally embedded 25 years ago. Topics with and for the region were in the spotlight. Now research on Mittelstand is internationally known and appreciated. Interdisciplinarity has also become more important," said Prof. Dr. Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen), describing the development of the research area over the past 25 years at the ceremony for economic sciences, which took place in the context of the 50th anniversary of the University of Siegen in mid-May.

Under the motto "The future of the past - 50 years of economics at the University of Siegen", Prof. Dr. Friederike Welter was one of the speakers, as were Prof. Dr. Marc Goerigk on Business Analytics, Prof. Dr. Nils Goldschmidt on Business Didactics, Prof. Dr. Matthias Hunold on Evidence.
