Start-up activity was less lively in the last year than in 2019, partly due to the reintroduction of compulsory master craftsmanship in some trades, partly due to the Corona pandemic. However, the effects of the pandemic have rarely resulted in the abandonment of start-up plans, but at most in delayed implementation. This is the conclusion reached by Peter Kranzusch and Dr Rosemarie Kay, among others, in their analysis of commercial start-ups and business closures.
Despite the considerable restrictions on economic activity, the number of company closures fell significantly in 2020. In every single month of 2020, fewer companies were liquidated than in the same month of the previous year.
