How do terrorist attacks affect the economic development of companies? How can management react to this? Dr. Faisal Saeed Malik (University of Siegen), presented the results of his dissertation on "Exploring the Impact of Terrorism on the Business Operations and Firms' Management Practices" at the virtual forum of IfM Bonn in mid-May.
For his scientific work, he had interviewed textile companies of different sizes and in divers Pakistani cities, which are both export-oriented and operate locally. Among other things, the results showed, that smaller textile companies feel more threatened by terrorist attacks than larger ones. Also, not every region is equally affected by terror, which ultimately has an impact on the strategic approach of the respective management.
