Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, the Federal Government has tried to mitigate the economic consequences for the self-employed and their businesses with a variety of financial measures.
In the workshop discussion "Gender policy in the crisis. Equality in Times of Corona" of the Harriet Taylor Mill Institute in mid-November, Dr. Rosemarie Kay discussed the question of whether the economic development of women- and men-owned businesses differed in the first six month of the pandemic. Her conclusion: Based on the development of sales, no particular impact of the corona crisis on women-led businesses can be ascertained.
Nor, at first glance, are there any blatant gaps in access to support measures that would affect women-led companies in particular. But it is not yet possible to make a final assessment because of the still weak data base. Moreover, the medium and long-term effects will be seen later.
