Children of self-employed parents tend to be more open to becoming self-employed later in life than children of parents in salaried employment. But recent research shows that an upbringing focused on risk avoidance can negate the positive effects of parents serving as role models for self-employment. In the context of economic crises and uncertainties, Dr Stefan Schneck analyses in his policy brief whether parents are currently encouraging their children to be more risk-averse as part of their parenting.
His article has been published in the policy brief series " Entrepreneurship in Focus"’ by the research network Entrepreneurship, Innovation and SMEs e.V. and IfM Bonn.
