The policy brief ‘Paradigm shift for tangible bureaucracy re-duction’ by Dr. Annette Icks and Michael Holz reached the final round of the ‘Ordnungspolitischer Preis der Familienunternehmer’ (Family Business Owners' Prize for Regulatory Policy) in mid-September. The winner was the article ‘Inter-ventionismus als Gefahr für die Demokratie’ (Interventionism as a Threat to Democracy) by Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm (TU Nuremberg), Prof. Dr. Stefan Kolev (Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau) and Prof. Dr. Jens Weidmann (Frankfurt School of Finance and Management).
In their two-page publication, Dr Annette Icks and Michael Holz propose a para-digm shift in both new regulations and the reduction of bureaucracy: away from the idea of control and towards more practicality, meaningfulness and propor-tionality in legislation.
