Can the regional business structure influence the resilience of a region in the face of extreme weather events? Christian Heinzel, Prof Dr Mark Sanders (both Maastricht University School of Business and Economics/Netherlands), Dr W. Scott Langford (Arizona State University School of Public Affairs/USA) and Dr Vinzenz Peters analysed this question in their publication "Young and small firms and resilience to extreme weather events", using county-level data for the US. They conclude that the higher the proportion of young and small businesses in a region is, the lower the overall employment losses.

Their article has just been published in the Journal of Business Venturing Insights.
