The current transformation of the economy and society requires many far-reaching technological and social innovations. The members of the Expert Commission Research and Innovation (EFI), including Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen), use the example of agriculture in their article for the current issue of Wirtschaftsdienst to show how technical innovations can support the transformation towards greater sustainability and what policymakers can do to turn inventions into innovations.
At the same time, they explain the role of social innovations as a cross-sectional instrument in managing the transformation – and how they can be promoted.
