How can commercial building permit procedures be simplified and accelerated? Michael Holz gave answers to this question from a scientific perspective at the end of February during an exchange of experiences at the Siegen Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
He pointed out that, in addition to simplifying the relevant legislation, greater commitment on the part of all those involved – from companies and planning service providers to the authorities – could also help to simplify and speed up commercial building permits. "Ex-ante building application conferences are particularly efficient in this context, as they enable applicants, planners and the authorities involved to gain a common understanding of the planned project," said the IfM researcher.
