Health and safety is a top priority for companies – not least because fewer workplace accidents and absences due to illness have a positive impact on business productivity. But effective health and safety at work requires that the individual regulations are appropriate and do not place an excessive financial burden on businesses.
In a report for the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Dr Susanne Schlepphorst and Dr Annette Icks have analysed the burden costs, using three companies of varying sizes in the mechanical and plant engineering sector as case studies. The two researchers presented their findings at the Federal Ministry in mid-April.
