Many (smaller) companies are still reluctant to make use of public innovation funding. According to a literature review by Dr Siegrun Brink, this is less due to the funding on offer and more to the differing structural and procedural conditions at the level of the companies and the funding programmes. This means that a complex, inflexible funding system with high administrative requirements comes up against a lack of resources and information within companies, as well as dynamic innovation processes.
The analysis "Öffentliche Innovationsförderung im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs: Ziele, Potenziale und Grenzen" has been published in the policy paper "Wirkungsvolle Förderung für den Mittelstand: Wissenschaft und Praxis im Dialog" by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).
