Even if policymakers use numerous instruments to reduce bureaucracy, many Mittelstand companies feel that the bureaucratic regulations – but especially the regulations for their implementation–- are too high. The article shows how the burdens on the Mittelstand could be reduced. For example, not only the federal, state and local levels would have to exchange information in a better way, but also non-governmental institutions with regulatory competence would have to be included in this process. In addition, more coordination of the digitalisation of the administration would certainly also contribute to a reduction in bureaucratic burdens.
