The aim of this chapter is to review the state of knowledge about the effects of self-employment on the partner in intimate relationships. This new topic in entrepreneurship research emerged recently, and this chapter shows that having a self-employed partner can decrease individual well-being and increase tensions in relationships. This chapter offers both academic insights and practical implications for the family, family counseling, and the family business.
