Participation in external events IfM President gave Schumpeter Lecture at the SME Assembly 2025

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Friederike Welter (IfM Bonn/University of Siegen) made a plea for "everyday entrepreneurship" at the SME Assembly 2025 in Copenhagen (Denmark) in mid-November as part of the Schumpeter Lecture "Innovation in Enterprise": "Research in this area challenges a distorted view on entrepreneurship. One that pertains that only certain forms of entrepreneurship (can) lead to wealth, innovation, growth, competitiveness. It calls for acknowledging the heterogeneity of entrepreneurship, to develop better theorizing and recommendations for policymakers. And don’t forget: today’s large companies started out as small businesses."

The IfM President also participated in the SME Competitiveness Panel. She highlighted the current challenges facing companies in Europe and explained how bureaucratic burdens could be reduced – or avoided in the future.
