News & Updates In the focus: Minimum apprenticeship minimum wage

How does the introduction of the minimum apprenticeship wage affect training offers and take-ups? Dr Annika Reiff answered this question in her presentation at the beginning of September as co-author of the paper "Does more money help? The impact of the apprenticeship minimum wage on training offers and take-ups" at the 2025 Annual Conference of the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ECSR) in Cologne.

The results suggest a decline in both the number of offered apprenticeship places and the number of filled apprenticeship places as a result of the introduction of the minimum apprenticeship wage. The paper is joint work with Lina Tobler (University of Cologne) and Dr Lukas Fervers (University of Cologne, DIE Bonn).
