Participation in external events The use of artificial intelligence in SMEs

How are Mittelstand enterprises already using artificial intelligence (AI) to cover their skilled labour needs? Dr Sebastian Schneider gave answers to this question in his presentation "Strategic use of AI in SMEs in Germany: potentials and challenges for companies and workforce" at the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) conference in Durham (United Kingdom) in mid-September.

"Artificial intelligence is currently used primarily in areas where it can support employees in routine tasks or improve the quality of services", reported the IfM researcher. Based on the research findings of the IfM Bonn, managers in Mittelstand enterprises see great potential in the use of artificial intelligence to alleviate the shortage of skilled workers. But on the other hand, they also face the challenge that the introduction of AI relates to high investment costs, a lack of expertise and legal uncertainties.
