External publications Psychological costs are a burden in public procurement

Unclear requirements and the obligation to enter the same data perpetually are seen as one of the reasons why small and medium-sized construction companies rarely participate in public tenders. In contrast, the monetary costs are met with significantly less discontent, even though they affect the smallest construction companies much more than larger companies.

In their article "Why reducing psychological costs in public procurement is more important for SMEs than reducing bureaucratic costs", Dr. Nadine Schlömer-Laufen, Dr. Sebastian Schneider and Dr. Annika Reiff show what measures policymakers can initiate to motivate companies to participate more in public procurement again. Their article has been published in the journal "Recht der Familienunternehmen" (Family Business Law).
