IfM Publications The psychological costs of bureaucratic burdens

The bureaucratic burden on companies is usually measured based on the time and money spent on complying with regulatory requirements. Michael Holz, Dr Annette Icks, Dr Nadine Schlömer-Laufen, Dr Sebastian Schneider and Dr Annika Reiff (all researchers are at the IfM Bonn) outline in their policy brief the role that anger, frustration and irritation (psychological costs) play in companies. The researchers also provide recommendations on how bureaucracy can be efficiently reduced based on their analyses.

The article "Psychological costs as a key factor in the bureaucratic burden on businesses" has been published in the Policy Brief series by the Research Network Entrepreneurship, Innovation and SMEs and IfM Bonn.
